Folk Artist Dhoroni Banikya to be Awarded Amulya Kakati Memorial Award

Folk artist Dhoroni Banikya from Bongaigaon district will be conferred the 'Swabhav Shilpi Amulya Kakati Memorial Award 2021' for his contribution towards promoting and preserving the fold culture heritage of the state through his work. The award will be presented by the Students-Artistes-Writers Welfare Trust of the All Guwahati Students Union on February 9, at the Vivekananda Kendra auditorium in Guwahati.

Speaking to the media, folk artist Dhoroni Banikya said, "I never thought I would get this kind of recognition and the award. I never expected it. The award will be presented by the All Guwahati Students Union. I have worked with Amulya Kakati in movies. I feel very happy for this".

The Students-Artistes-Writers Welfare Trust of the All Guwahati Students Union confers the award to a person every year for their contribution to society in their respective field.

The award is constituted to protect and promote the legacy of the actor, director, producer, scriptwriter, and playwright Amulya Kakati.
