All covid vaccines should be stored between 2-8 degrees Celsius apart from Pfizer, which should be stored at minus 70 degrees Celsius.
Vaccination drive in India
30 Crore people in the high risk category to be vaccinated in 6 months. Total of 4,895 sites were identified for the to be administered. Vaccination drive to begin on January 16.
One crore health workers and two crore frontline workers – including the police, civil defence personnel and sanitation workers – will be administered the vaccine. 27 crore people over the age of 50 and those with co-morbidities like diabetes, high blood pressure and liver disease, will also be vaccinated in the first phase.
Effectiveness of the vaccine would begin only after 14 days of receiving the second dose. Both Covishield and Covaxin have to be administered in two doses 28 days apart. The government has purchased 1.10 crore doses of Covishield vaccine from Serum Institute of Idnia. Another 4.50 crore doses will be acquired by April.
