Tarun Gogoi
Tarun Gogoi (born 1 April, 1936) was an Indian politician who served as the Chief Minister of Assam from 2001 to 2016 (Three terms). Gogoi was born in Rangamati tea estate, Jorhat, Assam
He was a member of the Indian National Congress and led the party to a record three consecutive electoral victories in Assam.
He completed 15 consecutive years as Chief Minister of Assam on 18 May 2016 as the longest serving Chief Minister of the state.
Gogoi became a political leader of national stature after he was elected Joint Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in 1976.
He first represented Margherita constituency in 1996–98.
Gogoi tested positive for Corona Virus on August 26 and from then on suffering from many complications.

He spent the past two months in the hospital and finally recovered from Corona Virus on October 25.
The 86-year-old veteran politician was re-admitted at GMCH on November 2 due to post-Covid-19 complications.
