Chenga is an Assembly Constituency and is situated in the Barpeta district. It is also a part of the Barpeta Lok Sabha Constituency. According to the 2011 census, Chenga has a total of 142845 population.

Chenga Assembly Constituency is one among the 126 Assembly Constituencies and it bears number 47. It falls under Barpeta Lok Sabha Constituency.

PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY

Chenga falls under the Barpeta Parliamentary Constituency. Abdul Khaleque of the Indian National Congress party won the Lok Sabha Election of 2019 with 645173 votes and defeated Kumar Deepak Das of the Asom Gana Parishad party who secured 504866 votes.

DISTRICT

Chenga is a place in the Barpeta district. Barpeta is an administrative district in Lower Assam. The district headquarter is located in Barpeta. The district covers an area of 3245 km square. As per the census report released in 2011, most of the people in the Barpeta district is Muslim and the most spoken language is Bengali which is 61.74%. of the people speaks Bengali and 36.14% of the people speak Assamese.

In the Assembly Election 2016, the Chenga Constituency had a total of 122519 voters and from this, the number of valid voters was 109658. In the election, Sukur Ali Ahmed of the Indian National Congress party won the election with 51882 votes and Monowara Khatun of All India United Democratic Front became the runner up with 28525 votes.

In 1996 and 2001 Assembly Election, Sukur Ali Ahmed of the INC party won the election with 17366 and 24686 total votes.
In 2006 Assembly Election, Liakat Ali Khan of the AGP party won the MLA seat with 39839 votes by defeating Sukur Ali Ahmed of INC, who got 33307 votes.
In 2011 and 2016 election, Sukur Ali Ahmed of the INC party was again the winner with 36886 and 51882 votes respectively.
