GUWAHATI: The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has issued revised advisory for COVID-19 containment in apartment societies.

According to the revised advisory, all apartment societies should have a visitor's protocol in the apartment. Full details of visitors should be maintained, including vaccination details and travel history if any. Thermal screening of every one (residents/staff/visitors) entering the community premises should be mandatory on entering the community premises.

Everyone, residents and staff alike, should wear a face mask properly with no gaps at all times whenever they step out of their homes. No spitting or chewing pan or tobacco outside the homes.

Each apartment society should introduce hand washing at the time of entry for all types of visitors and even for the families residing within when they come from outside. Hand washing bay /basin with soap and liquid as well as poster showing appropriate steps to wash hands shall be placed at the entrance and should be strictly ensured. If sanitizers are available they can also be provided for use in the entrance.

The society will keep a watch on news about containment areas in the district and government advisory/guidelines on mobility, issued from time to time

All apartment societies shall ensure that any public gathering platform like park, swimming pool, recreation centres, common activity centre, clubhouse, gym, reception lounge is frequently sanitized and gathering of only single / double vaccinated persons with 50 per cent capacity at a time is allowed in such common activity areas within the apartment premises. In case of marriage rituals to be held in community halls, the society will permit 50 single vaccinated persons at a time or 50 per cent of the community hall capacity.

The Apartment societies sall also implement cleaning and disinfection measures at least three times a day particularly for lift buttons, handrails in the staircases, gates and grills and all other such areas within the apartment.

Residents / visitors should avoid crowding lifts. They shall maintain a queue for entering the lift with adequate physical distancing. Inside the lift there should be adequate space to maintain physical distance of 1 metre. In case the lift is very small and there is no space for maintaining a physical distance of 1 metre, only one person should be allowed to embark the lift at a time.

The Apartment society shall take measures to ensure contactless delivery of good/items or the families should be asked to place delivery baskets outside their main door to receive online deliveries. Necessary disinfection should be carried out outside the door itself, for any packet received.

Waste is generally collected, pooled and disposed at one point. In case anyone in the apartment is infected, he/she shall use multiple layers of packaging to dispose of masks, gloves, etc. preferably sanitized/washed to decontaminate them so that the sanitay workers handling the waste do not get the infection.

The residents should avoid going for walks as far as possible, even within the housing compound. If they do, they should maintain physical distancing of 6 feet from others and avoid crowded places.
