GUWAHATI: After the resignation of Rajen Gohain from the state Cabinet rank, the former state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president, ministers Ranjeet Kumar Dass and Jayanta Mallabaruah, and Pijush Hazarika gave a party view on the ongoing internal turmoil that is going on within the party on Saturday.

Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass said that the BJP is a national political party, and there is no difference in its new or old members. “The Congress created the concept of new and old members in a party. The then Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and now Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma joined the party after me, so will I call them new party members? All the members are equal in the party,” said.

On the other hand, Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah said, “80 percent of the members of the state BJP have joined after 2014. From now on, anyone who speaks against the party, be it a junior or senior member, strict actions will be taken against them.”

Minister Pijush Hazarika said, “I do not understand why a senior party leader, Rajen Gohain, criticized the Chief Minister regarding the delimitation. The delimitation process was conducted by the Election Commissioner of India but not by the Chief Minister.”
