Cameroon: Gunmen stormed into a school in the city of Kumba in Cameroon and killed eight children. The incident, which happened on Saturday at Mother Francisca International Bilingual Academy, also left around 12 wounded who were taken to local hospitals, said the United Nations (UN).

A group of nine terrorists assailants entered the bilingual school and attacked the students aged between nine to twelve years. This was one of the worst attacks in the region till date, said an official.

President of the African Union Moussa Faki Mahamat tweeted on the tragic killing: "There are no words for the grief nor condemnation strong enough to express my horror at the brutal attack which targeted primary school children... while they were sitting learning, in their classroom."

Cameroon Public Health Minister Malachie Manaouda condemned the act of barbarism committed in Kumba's bilingual academy. He said that murdering the innocent children is like attacking the very foundation of the nation.

The area where the incident happened has been caught up in violence between the government forces and Anglophone separatists for the last three years. However, no group has claimed the responsibility for the attack yet.

The attackers open fire in a classroom where students were present. Many students were injured as they tried to jump out from the windows.
