ITANAGAR: State RD Minister Bamang Felix on Wednesday urged upon the members of Arunachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (ArSRLM) to strive for facilitating the expansion of the market of products.
Interacting with the members of ArSRLM at Tezu block in the Lohit district of the state, the minister said that the livelihood mission would also empower rural womenfolk with sustainable livelihood options. "Such efforts will a go a long way in motivating the rural women folk to take confident strides toward self-reliance," he said.
The minister suggested the ArSRLM team and Lohit Deputy Commissioner Shashvat Saurabh, to explore the viable options for product branding and market linkages, an official statement informed. Felix also advised the officials to ensure that the self-help groups have organic growth based on their work and performance.
He appreciated the dedication of the ArSRLM team in empowering rural women folk. "Going by the working spirit and performance of the ArSRLM, it won't take long for our state to transform into a more vibrant and better Arunachal," Felix pointed out.
Taking note of the accommodation challenges faced by the ArSRLM team, the minister directed the DC to work out modalities to address the issue. ArSRLM Tezu Block mission manager Dani Yakang informed us that they have already achieved their target for the year to create self-help groups and altogether there are now 144 SHGs consisting of eight members each. Yakang also informed that the SHGs under them are primarily engaged in manufacturing textile-based articles and in producing turmeric, ginger, pumpkin and pineapple-based food products. Later, the minister visited the upcoming canteen facility which will be operated by the Sanao Mai SHG within the campus of the district secretariat building at Tezu and the Mamnumai SHG tribal Emporium at the Tezu main market area being operated by the Mamnu Mai SHG. Felix also visited the Textile and Handicraft centre Tezu under the Textile and Handicraft department and interacted with the artisans, the statement added.
