Mission Bhumiputra benefits target groups

GUWAHATI: Mission Bhumiputra, launched by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on August 1, started benefiting the target people (students). In a little over a month, the authorities received 56,016 applications for caste certificates, approved 14,198 of them and rejected 147 applications for various reasons.

Since the inception of this mission, 29,989 people have applied for Scheduled Caste certificates. The authorities approved 7,779 of the applications and rejected 81. Likewise, 1,235 people applied for ST (H) certificates, 345 applications approved and one rejected; 8,670 people applied for ST (P) certificates, 3,269 applications approved and 11 applications rejected, and 16,123 people applied for OBC/MOBC certificates, 2,805 applications approved and 54 applications rejected.

The Chief Minister launched Mission Bhumiputra for speedy disposal of applications for caste certificates by issuing them in a simplified and digital way. Earlier, the authorities issued such certificates manually.

The Chief Minister asked the deputy commissioners to speed up the disposal of applications for caste certificates. The CMO (Chief Minister's Office) monitors application disposal for caste certificates on a daily basis.
