Early Life:

Akhil Gogoi is a resident of Nizarapar, Guwahati. His age is about 46 years. He is the son of Late Boluram Gogoi. He is married to Gitashree Tamuly who is an Associate Professor in the Department of Assamese at B Barooah College, Guwahati. 

Education:

Career and Politics:

Akhil Gogoi is one of the founding members of the recently formed Raijor Dal. He is also the leader of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS). Gogoi is also the leading member of regional political party of Assam Gana Mukti Sangram Asom.

Gogoi is also an RTI activist and he was associated with octogenarian social activist Anna Hazare during the Indian Anti-corruption movement of 2011-12.

Gogoi is in Guwahati jail since December 2019. He was arrested in 2019 on charges of instigating violence during the anti-CAA agitation that rocked the state.

The peasant leader has been charged in 13 cases.

He is contesting Assam Assembly elections for the first time.
