JORHAT: Poor daily wage workers are happy about government's decision for extending help by giving cash and free rice, oil, salt, dal, kerosene through the National Food Security Scheme which was even declared by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for those family holders, individuals leading life without Ration Card. Rice, along with essential commodities, was distributed for the second time in phase manner both at the municipality and panchayat levels. For instance, at 51 Baghchung gram panchayat started this at the panchayat office premises after following all norms, guidelines, sanitization and by maintaining social distancing, said Diganta Bhuyan, president of the panchayat here on Wednesday. The panchayat members were much pleased to distribute 5kg rice per individual without Ration Cards as these families have been passing hard times since the declaration of lockdown.

Maximum beneficiaries were overwhelmed at the government's step in assisting help when they could not go out of the house to work or fetch job, For over two weeks they had to depend on wild plants like dhekia, posola, kosu, etc which grows abundantly among the shore areas of the river Bhogdoi.
