Two sisters die in road mishap, another injured in Kamrup district

BOKO: Two girls died and another was seriously injured in a road accident at Jorsimuli area under Chayygaon Police station in Kamrup district on Sunday morning.

According to the information, three sisters were playing in front of their house. Meanwhile, a atractor carrying sand illegally from the Brahmaputra riverine was passing by. The driver lost control of the tractor and hit the girls. Narjima Akhtar (12) died on the spot and the other two girls were admitted in the Goroimari Health Centre. One of them, Nasima Akhtar (10) was referred to GMCH. She died on the way to GMCH. The third girl, Hasina Akhtar (6) is admitted in the Goroimari Primary Health Centre. Jorsimuli Police arrested the driver of the tractor and also seized the tractor.

Following the accident, there was anger among the people of the area. When Jorsimuli Outpost police reached there to control the situation, some people allegedly attacked the police. A police jeep (AS 30 6667) was also damaged. Chayygaon Police and CRPF team reached the spot and controlled the situation.

Additional Superintendent of Kamrup Police, Sanjeev Saikia visited the village. He said that the situation was under control and that police had begun investigation. A case had been registered in Chayygaon Police Station. The guilty would be punished, he said.
