BJP Assam to field Tribal Leader & outgoing Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa for Rajya Sabha Election 2019

Guwahati: The Bharatiya Janata Party (Assam Unit) had decided to field tribal leader and outgoing Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election on June 14, 2019.

It is to be noted that two of Assam’s seven Rajya Sabha seats will be vacated after the six-year tenure of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Santiuse Kujur – both of Congress is going to end on June 14.

Meanwhile, former Rajya Sabha MP Birendra Prasad Baishya of Asom Gana Parishad is another candidate who will be contesting the Rajya Sabha Election from Assam.

The election for the two Rajya Sabha seats will be held on June 7, 2019.

It may be mentioned that both Man Mohan Singh and Santiuse Kujur were appointed to the Rajya Sabha on June 15, 2013 from Assam.
