Four broad day light Burglary at Makum Town in Tinsukia on the day of Maha Asthami

Makum: Four cases of burglary were reported from Tengapani Road in Makum on the day of Maha Asthami i.e on Sunday.

As per local sources, few unidentified miscreants had barged into the residences of Jiten Hati Baruah, Nilokanta Gogoi, Gunakanta Phukan and Ajit Kumar Dey at Tengapani area of Makum in the absence of the family members.

Miscreants though managed to loot all the belongings and other valuable items worth several lakhs of rupees from the residences of Jiten Hati Baruah, Nilokanta Gogoi, Gunakanta Phukan, however, failed to loot Ajit Kumar Dey’s residence.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, Anshuman Dey son of Ajit Kumar Dey informed that the incidence took place at around 11 am in the morning when they were out of town on the occasion of Durga Puja.

Notably, the gang of miscreants attempted burglary on the absence of the family members of the targeted residences of the owners.

So far two cases have been registered at Makum Police Station in connection to the matter.

Also, the officer in charge of Makum Police Station, T Gogoi, told The Sentinel Digital, “We are investigating the matter and our investigating officer is thoroughly monitoring the case. So far no suspects have been apprehended, but definitely we will come to a conclusion once our investigation is completed.”

Furthermore, the officer in charge, T Gogoi appealed to the people of Makum to be in touch with the police department and police personnel when they and their family members are out of the town or District.

“Burglary cases cannot be assumed, therefore, one should be in touch with the police department of their respective places so that a patrolling team can move on those specific areas for patrolling during their absence, we held many awareness meeting on the matter earlier and it’s high time that public should come forward in support of their own by being in touch with the police department,” added Makum Police Station, Officer in Charge, T Gogoi.
