Head on Collision between Dumper and Private Bus in Khanapara, 28 Injured, 10 Critical

Guwahati: In a major road crash, at least 28 passengers of a private bus received serious injuries on Sunday night after a dumper carrying bitumen and stone boulders collided with the bus near Ganesh Mandir located in Khanapara in Guwahati.

All the injured passengers were immediately rushed to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) and GNRC Hospital for better medication.

Sources also informed that out of the 28 passengers, 10 were reported critical.

It may also be mentioned that the passengers were travelling from Sontoli area of Boko town under Kamrup District to Golaghat for a re-verification of NRC documents scheduled on August 5 (today).

Furthermore, the eye witnessed while talking to the media stated that the dumper coming from Jorhat was heading towards Khanapara when the driver lost its control over the vehicle and rammed into the bus injuring the passengers.

At least three people died and 30 were reportedly injured after a fatal road accident near National Highway 6 on July 24, 2019.

Sources informed that two ASTC undertaking Traveller Bus bearing registration number AS 11BC-2557 & AS 01C-4149 coming from Silchar was heading towards Karimganj met with a severe road accident at the National Highway 6 in the morning hours.

Both the Traveller buses slide off the road and fell over each other into a roadside pond.

Later, local people came forward and rescued the injured passengers.

All the passengers were immediately rushed to Shree Gauri Hospital and Karimganj Civil Hospital for better medication.

Meanwhile, it is also suspected that the death toll of casualties rate may rise further.

On the other hand, Karimganj Traffic Police Department is carrying out an investigation in connection to the matter.
