Married Woman Gang Raped in Karimganj, 5 Arrested

Karimganj: In a shocking incident, a lady was gang-raped on July 17, 2019, at Kathaltoli area under Bazirichera village of Karimganj District close to Assam-Tripura border.

As per reports, the victim is a resident of Bazaricherra area.

Sources also informed that her husband is working in some other state, and she was living a temporary house at Bazaricherra area since the last couple of years, thus, taking the advantage of this situation, the gang of five miscreants, in the name of arranging a house for her to stay, they took her to Kathaltoli area yesterday and allegedly raped her.

On Monday, based on the FIR lodged by the victim on July 21, 2019, Bazarichera police arrested all the five alleged rapists were identified as Topon Nath, Panna Nath, Mithun Nath, Arun Nath and Anupam Nath.

All accused hails from Kathaltoli area in Karimganj. Their age group is between 22 yrs-26 yrs.

An 80-year-old man allegedly raped a 12-year-old physically challenged girl in North Bhir village under Biswanath District last Saturday.

Sources also informed that the minor girl was playing with her friends from her neighborhood in the village at the evening hours when she suddenly got disappeared.

As per reports, the innocent minor girl was lured by the 80-year-old man identified as Anil Saikia had taken her to his residence in the evening hours where he allegedly made an attempt to rape her.

The incident had sparked sensation among the family and local people in the village.

Later, the girl was spotted at Anil Saikia’s house at around 9 pm in a poor health condition.

Following the incident, angry villagers apprehended the old man from his residence and house arrested him at the victim’s residence.

Later, police apprehended the suspected accused and also sent the victim to the hospital for a medical checkup.

Furthermore, local people in the village alleged that the notorious old man Anil Saikia was involved in such cases from a very long time.
