More than three hundred Congress members joined BJP in Golaghat’s Sarupathar

Sarupathar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Sarupathar under Dhansiri Subdivision organized a meeting at Sarupathar Rajuhuwa Vhaban recently to launch the party's membership drive. The meeting was presided by Nirada Gogoi Bora, vice president of Sarupathar OBC mondol Marcha, Sanjib Gogoi, from Sarupathar OBC mondol Marcha.

Meanwhile, Amio Bora, Ex-Chairman of APSC, Jibon Chutia, Rajib Saikia, Biplob Sarmah, chairman of Sarupathar Municipality Board and many more dignitaries were also present in the meet.

However, according to the sources, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has recorded more than 40 lakh members in the state recently, the membership drive that was launched on June 23 witnessed over 11 lakh people joined the saffron camp. BJP State president Ranjeet Kumar Das said our membership drive recorded 1,1,0, 9000 new members. Earlier, we had 29 lakh members. So with our new members, today we are more than a 40 lakh-member party in the state," Das said, and he also added "Our target till August was 11 lakh but we have already crossed that mark. The drive did take a hit because of the floods but we are confident that we will have over 15 lakh new members by August-end."

On the other hand, many prominent Congress leaders in Assam have quit the respected party to join the saffron camp. Meanwhile, the exodus general secretary of Sarupathar block Congress Malarani Saikia Bora joined the saffron on August 18. This was followed by the joining of more than three hundred people from 21 Gaon panchayat of Sarupathar in Dhansiri Subdivision under the Golaghat district.

Overall, Speaking about the success of the drive, some BJP leaders from Sarupathar explained, "We could achieve such a large number of new members within a short time. This shows that people are confident about the BJP party. Some of the strong measures taken against corruption have helped bolster people's confidence in the government."
