Zubeen Garg to Form His Own Political Forum to Challenge BJP

Assam singing sensation Zubeen Garg on Wednesday announced that he is going to form his own political forum.

The singer said that he will form his own political forum as an alternative to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress in Assam.

Zubeen made this announcement during a protest programme organized by the artist's society at Assam Engineering Institute Playground in the city’s Chandmari area.

The protest programme was also attended by the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) General Secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi and popular Assamese singer Simanta Shekhar among other big names.

Zubeen also took a jibe at Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on his silence over the CAB issue. Zubeen said, “Sarba Da (brother), open your eyes, it’s no use chanting the name of God, break your silence”

He added, “I was the one who helped BJP win by singing their campaign song and now we the people of Assam will uproot him from power.”

“We are also literate people. Amit Shah is not a pundit. Modi was a tea vendor, he should go and put up his tea stall. He can’t force the contentious Bill on us just like that,” Zubeen said.

Home minister Amit Shah tabled the contentious legislation on Wednesday afternoon amid widespread outrage in the northeastern states. The controversial legislation seeks to provide Indian citizenship to Non-Muslims from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan fleeing religious persecution.
