4 Killed as Fire Breaks-out in Karol Bagh Factory, Delhi

Guwahati: In an incident of fire break out in a Karol Bagh based factory, four people are reported to be dead on Monday. The incident would have not been so severe if the people inside the factory could escape the fire. As a heavy built man, while trying to evacuate the building got stuck at the exit door, the exit door got blocked and eventually blocked the route for others.

As stated by the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official, the fire started at 12.23 pm in Beadonpura area in Karol Bagh. It all happened after a solvent used for laundering clothes spilled out on the floor accidentally.

The fire services received a call wherein the news of a house being caught on fire is informed to them. But when the firefighters reached the spot, they found the victims were involved in laundering clothes.

The victims were about to steam iron clothes and were putting solvent in a container when it spilled on the floor. Once the solvent fell on the ground, it came in contact with the steam iron and triggered the fire. At the sudden break out of the fire, the people inside the factory panicked and made a haste to go out of the factory. As a heavy-built man was sitting near the door, he tried to come out through the door before everyone else and in a sense of haste; he got stuck in the exit point. At this, not only the man remained stuck, but other people inside the factory too got stuck and caught fire.

All the four deceased are identified as Bagan Prasahad (55), R M Naresh (40), Aarti (20) and Asha (40). There is another injured man who is identified as Ajeet (25) and has been admitted to a hospital.

The fire could be brought under control only with the efforts of two fire tenders.
