ABSU and Movement Groups staged 3 hr protest to reiterate demand for separate ‘Bodoland’

Kokrajhar: In wake of Government of India's decision of Bifurcating Jammu and Kashmir State into two Union Territories of J&K and Laddakh, a three hour dharna (protest) on demand of separate state 'Bodoland' was launched by ABSU, NDFB (P) and PJACBM on Thursday.

This Dharna is being organized at all the district head quarters of proposed Bodoland Region.

While staging the protests, the ABSU and Bodo movement groups appealed to the Government saying this is high time for the PM Modi-led BJP government to execute the policy of new state creation in the country.

They further mentioned that ‘BODOLAND’ is a proposed state demanded since 50 years to curve out from Assam.

The Bodo movement groups also claimed that the proposed Bodoland from Sankosh to Sadiya the Northern part of Brahmaputra covers a land area of 25478 sq km with an estimated population of more than 50 lakh population.

It may be mentioned that the students and other movement organisations from Bodoland earlier held Tripartite Talks since 2014 with the NDA Government. So far three Tripartite Talks held with the then Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

One must also note that the armed revolution groups like NDFB (P) & NDFB are in ceasefire with the Government of India.

The ongoing negotiations haven't yielded with the policy decision of the government, claimed ABSU members while speaking to the media.

The bodies further urged the BJP government to come with the idea of resolving the issues of armed revolutionary by creating separate state of Bodoland under the provisions of Article 2 and 3 of the Constitution of India.

Meanwhile, a memorandum was also sent to Prime Minister and Home Minister through the Deputy Commissioners of every District headquarters of Bodoland.
