Himanta Biswa Sarmah taunts Rahul Gandhi to retire from politics after the humiliating loss

Guwahati: Assam Finance Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma, taking a dig at his losing counterpart, asks Indian National Congress party to give its president Rahul Gandhi a 'decent retirement'. The Assam minister made the jibe at Rahul owing to the current downfall of the rival party in the ongoing counting of votes.

Narendra Modi-led BJP party is securing a tremendous win over most parts of India which accounts to over 300 seats. with this massive Modi sweep, one thing has been certain that the Modi government is set to return to power once again.

Moreover, as Rahul is trailing with his counterpart Smriti Irani taking a lead in Amethi, this gives another reason to the NEDA president Sarma to make funny remarks on Rahul.

While speaking to a news channel, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “I must have met him (Rahul) around 20 times in my life...I feel pity for him. Sonia Gandhi (UPA chairperson and former Congress chief) has thrust him on the Congress. He is a person who has come from a privileged background, he doesn’t respect his colleagues.”

Sarma further added, “He (Rahul) should be given a decent retirement because if he does not quit politics, then in India the next 25 years will be dominated by the ruling party (BJP) and there won’t be any opposition, and there would only be BJP and (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi.”
