

Guwahati: Today, morning , landslides were reported at multiple locations in the Burhapahar area of Kaliabor in Nagaon district after continuous heavy rainfall, disrupting vehicular movement along a key stretch of the national highway.
As per reports, rocks and mud slid down the hillside at five locations in Burhapahar after incessant rain lashed the region from the early hours. The debris spilled onto the highway, partially blocking the road and causing difficulties for commuters.
Team from the National Highways Authority and the Public Works Department reached the affected areas soon after the incident and launched clearance operations. Efforts are underway to remove the accumulated debris and restore normal traffic movement.
Amid the ongoing clearance work, a truck reportedly met with an accident at one of the landslide-affected locations, further adding to the disruption. However, no casualties have been reported so far.
Team have urged commuters to be cautious while travelling through the affected stretch, particularly during adverse weather conditions. With rainfall continuing in the region, the terrain remains unstable, raising concerns about further landslides in vulnerable areas.
