Kokrajhar: 2,030 Kg Marijuana Seized from Bamboo-Laden Truck

Guwahati: Border Security team have seized approximately 2,030 kg of marijuana , estimated to be worth more than Rs 2 crore, from a truck at the Srirampur check gate in Assam’s Kokrajhar district along the Assam-West Bengal border.

Based on a tip-off, security and police team have intercepted and searched the truck, which was carrying a consignment of bamboo. During the search, they recovered 203 packets of ganja, each reportedly weighing around 10 kg. The contraband was allegedly concealed beneath the bamboo load in an attempt to evade detection during transit.

The truck driver and his assistant were arrested in connection with the seizure. They have been identified as Ram Lakhan Rajbhar and Manoj Chauhan, both residents of Uttar Pradesh.

As per an initial investigation, the consignment was allegedly being transported from Tezpur in Assam to Muzaffarpur in Bihar.

The arrested duo are being questioned as border police to investigate the source of the contraband and its intended recipients. Police are also investigating possible links between the seized consignment and a wider drug trafficking network.
