Guwahati: In a touching tribute to late Assamese music legend Zubeen Garg, a woman weaver from Khowang in Dibrugarh district has handwoven a unique gamusa featuring lyrics from nine of the singer's most iconic songs along with nine of his memorable quotes.

Dalimi Lahon Gogoi, a resident of Katakipukhuri Ahom Gaon in Khowang, created the traditional masterpiece on her handloom as a mark of respect for the beloved singer, whose passing left millions of admirers across Assam mourning.

Measuring more than 25 feet in length, the gamusa took nearly five months to complete. Dalimi began weaving the tribute about a month after Zubeen Garg's demise, with the aim of preserving his legacy through Assam's rich handloom tradition.

The gamusa features lyrics from some of Zubeen's most celebrated songs, including- Mayabini, Momor Sakiti Jole, Diya Ghurai Diya, Sapon Rongor Tikha Tumi, Roi Roi Binale and Andha Akash. It also incorporates nine inspirational quotes associated with the artist, artistically woven into intricate floral motifs.

Dalimi said the handwoven tribute reflects her deep admiration for Zubeen Garg and her desire to keep his musical legacy alive for future generations. The unique artwork has earned widespread appreciation from local residents, who described it as a beautiful fusion of Assam's traditional weaving heritage and the enduring legacy of one of the state's greatest cultural icons.
