President Murmu to Confer National Teachers’ Awards on 48 Teachers on September 5

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu will confer the National Teachers’ Awards 2026 on 48 school teachers at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on September 5, marking Teachers’ Day.

According to the Ministry of Education, the awardees have been selected through a three-stage selection process conducted at the district, state and national levels by the Department of School Education and Literacy.

The 48 award-winning teachers have been selected from 27 States, seven Union Territories and six organisations under the Central Government. The list includes 26 male and 22 female teachers.

The Ministry said online self-nominations for the National Teachers’ Awards 2026 were invited from eligible teachers between June 15 and July 20 through the Ministry of Education’s dedicated portal.

The awards recognise teachers for their contributions to improving the quality of education and making a meaningful impact on students and the education system.

The National Teachers’ Awards ceremony will be held on September 5, which is observed as Teachers’ Day in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President and renowned educationist Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
