FLO NE celebrates World Environment Day

GUWAHATI: On the occasion of World Environment Day, FICCI FLO North East, under the initiative of Dr Srutimala Duara, chairperson FLO North East, planted more than 200 tulsi plants and a few sandalwood trees in Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra on Wednesday. Twenty-eight varieties of tulsi plants were donated by Dr Prabin Saikia, who has a large garden called Bantirtha in Narayanpur.

He is a collector of varieties of local herbal and flowering plants, 30 varieties of tulsi, 6 varieties of gathion, among other trees. A large number of tulsi plants were given to FLO by the Forest Department. Honoured guests were Anand Khatoniyar, brand ambassador, Environment and Forest Department, Government of Assam, Hem Kanta Talukdar, Chief Conservator of Forest, Padmashree Surya Hazarika and Dr Prabin Saikia, stated a press release.
