GUWAHATI: Maruti Suzuki India Limited on Thursday announced it will hike prices of all its vehicles across models by upto 25,000 from January 2019 sighting consistently rising costs in current market conditions, joining other manufacturers in making such a move, a press release stated.
“The price increase has been necessitated on account of continuous increase in commodity prices and processing costs in today’s market. Moreover, increase in fuel prices has resulted in a significant increase in freight charges for the manufacturer too,” sources say.
Currently, MSIL sells a range of vehicles starting from the entry level hatchback Alto 800 to the S-Cross with prices ranging between 2.49 lakh and 11.5 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Guwahati). Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio currently comprises of 14 car models – Alto 800, K10, Wagon R, Celerio, Swift, Dzire, newly relaunched Ertiga, Omni, Eeco, Gypsy and Brezza apart from Baleno,Ciaz, Ignis and S-Cross through its NEXA channel. Other car makers viz Toyota have already announced a similar hike in prices of their vehicles across models from January 2019.
