GUWAHATI: As many as 215 people were killed in accidents in Guwahati in 2020, a year marked largely by corona-induced lockdown.

According to police sources, as many as 699 accidents – 208 fatal and 491 non-fatal – occurred in the city in 2020. The number of people injured in the accidents in that year was 469.

The month-wise break-up of the accidents taking place in the city in 2020 is – 29 fatal accidents involving the death of 30 people and 74 non-fatal accidents leading to the injuries to 62 in January, 20 fatal accidents leading to the death of as many people and 63 non-fatal accidents involving injury to 67 people in February, 11 fatal accidents with the death of 13 people and 56 non-fatal accidents with the injury of 61 people in March; seven fatal accidents leading to the death of nine people and nine non-fatal ones leading to the injury to 12 in April, ten fatal accidents leading to the death of 11 and 20 non-fatal ones leading to the injury to as many in May, 14 fall accidents with as many deaths and 34 non-fatal ones with 26 injuries in June, nine fatal accidents with ten deaths and 16 non-fatal with 12 injuries in July, 12 fatal with as many deaths and 24 non-fatal with 20 injuries in August, 22 fatal with as many deaths and 43 non-fatal with 42 injuries in September, 26 fatal with as many deaths and 44 non-fatal with as many injuries in October, 22 fatal with as many deaths and 50 non-fatal with 49 injuries in November and 26 fatal with as many deaths and 58 non-fatal with 54 injuries in December.
