GUWAHATI: The Assam High School Teachers' Association (AHSTA) has demanded of the State government to solve the problems of teachers in accordance with the decision taken on their November 5, 2020 meeting with Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, AHSTA secretary Chandra Gogoi said, "At the November 5, 2020 meeting with the Association, the Minister took a number of decisions for sorting out problems like provincialization of posts left out in 2013 – issue dates, effect dates and codes UDISE codes etc. A working plan was spelt out by the Minister. However, during the implementation education officials didn't follow the decisions taken by the Minister. We want the decisions to be taken immediately.

"Some of our demands are – provincialization of schools between 2014 and 2020 should be based on the number of students and their HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate Examination) results for three consecutive years. The schools whose students' strength and results are poor, they should be given a period of three years more to improve their results for provincialization. If such schools fail to improve their results, they should be cancelled from the list of provincialization."
