APCC moves against 212 members for 'anti-party' activities in 2021 polls

GUWAHATI: Following "strong allegations against 212 INC party workers, who were found to be indulging in anti-party activities during the last Assam Assembly Election-2021", that the APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) has initiated action against the individuals.

A press release of the APCC says that "15 DCCs (District Congress Committees) have already submitted their allegations separately with the documental proofs.

The APCC has also constituted a high-level inquiry committee to look into the matter. It has been authorised to "thoroughly probe the issue and also issue 'Show Cause Notice' to such party workers who were involved in anti-party activities by helping the Opposition candidates directly or indirectly in the last Assembly Election-2021".

Meanwhile "in the 'Show Cause Notice', the recipients have been asked to submit their replies in support of their self-protection highlighting the cause as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against them by the Committee within a period of 15 days.

This was stated by MLA Bharat Chandra Narah, Chairman of the 'Disciplinary Action Committee' in a press release.

According to the APPC list, eight party workers have been issued the show-cause notice in Karbi Anglong; 51 in Lakhimpur; 12 in Dibrugarh; 26 in Dhubri; 8 in Charaideo; 25 in Tinsukia; 8 in Sonitpur; 2 in Biswanath; 19 in Kamrup (Metro); 8 in Hojai; 2 in Kamrup (Rural); 5 in Nagaon; 29 in Karimganj; 5 in Hailakandi; and four in Bongaigaon, added the press release.
