GUWAHATI: “The Congress party has completely lost direction regarding the Assam government’s tough stance on foreigner deportation and the protection of indigenous and Indian-origin citizens under the leadership of Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Lacking any relevant issues to raise, the opposition has now stooped to making incoherent and baseless remarks. In his attempt to build a political image, Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi has repeatedly made absurd allegations targeting the Chief Minister,” the Assam BJP said in a strongly worded statement today.

State BJP spokesperson Lakhya Konwar criticized the Assam Congress president’s comments and emphasized that Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is working relentlessly to resolve unemployment by bringing in new industries.

“However, the Congress party seems incapable of accepting such well-thought-out developmental strategies of the BJP-led government. Their politics has never been about holistic development but only about appeasing specific vote banks. It is in this context that Gaurav Gogoi has attempted to claim that the CM is trying to please Adani, a claim that disregards the dreams of thousands of unemployed youth in the state,” the spokesperson added.

On the issue of foreigner deportation, the spokesperson mentioned that the Chief Minister’s firm stand has directly challenged the Congress’s vote bank politics. “It stated that the Congress party’s role in this matter has been completely anti-indigenous. Today, Congress politics has reached a point where its statements are indistinguishable from those of AAMSU. “Despite being born out of opposition to the historic Assam Agitation, AAMSU and Congress now speak in unison on the foreigner issue,” he said.
