Arunachali liquor worth Rs 35 lakh seized; Minister Parimal Suklabaidya lauds Excise team

GUWAHATI: A team of Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB) carried out an operation with the help of Mangaldai Police and seized two 10-wheeler container vehicles near NRL Petrol Pump at Mangaldai. The vehicles entering through the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border were involved in the illegal transportation of Arunachali liquor of 2,400 cases worth Rs. 35 lakh in total in the market in Assam.

The team of EIB chased these vehicles bearing registration numbers NL-01 L-6374 & RJ-52G A-1305 for four hours before seizing them. The two vehicles were blacklisted by various RTOs in different States.

Union Ministry of Home Affairs in one of its latest guidelines issued complete and strict restrictions on the sale of liquor nationwide.

State Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya has expressed gratitude to the joint operational team on this major success. The general secretary of the All Assam Liqour Trade Association, Alak Dutta, has thanked the team for this major breakthrough, a press release said.
