GUWAHATI: The State government has decided to procure 100 underwater deep-diving sets for emergency use by the Fire and Emergency Services.

The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the ASDMA (Assam State Disaster Management Authority), headed by the Chief Secretary, decided to procure the deep-diving sets. The meeting also decided that the deep-diving sets to be procured should have a communication system. The meeting approved a tentative amount of Rs 5.80 crore under the capacity-building component of the ASDMA for the deep-diving sets.

The Fire and Emergency Service personnel will use the deep-diving sets during a rescue operation in water after training.
