Assam: Bishal Phukan and Tarkik Borah to Remain Behind Bars Despite Bail

GUWAHATI: In a surprising turn of events, Bishal Phukan, accused in three high-profile cases, has been granted bail in the 352/24 case filed by Dibrugarh police. However, Phukan will not be released from jail as he still faces charges in two other cases: the 198/24 case filed by Duliajan Police Station and the 85/24 case from Barbaruah Police Station, both in Dibrugarh.

Phukan’s associate, Tarkik (Tapan) Borah, who is also facing charges in the same cases, has also been ordered to remain in Guwahati Central Jail. Both Phukan and Borah received bail in the 352/24 case, but their petitions for bail in the other cases were rejected.
