Guwahati: The Rasaraj Lakshminath Bezbaruah Smriti Roikhya Samiti thanked the government of Assam for the announcement of several projects in the state’s budget for the year 2025-26 on the works of Laksminath Bezbaruah.
The Samiti said, “The government of Assam has made several important announcements in the budget. Laksminath Bezbaruah Bhawan, a multi-purposed cultural project, will be constructed in all district headquarters in three phases. Every bhawan will include a modern auditorium, conference hall, galleries, and an exhibition that will portray the life and morals of Bezbaruah. A total of Rs 700 crore will be spent on the construction of the bhawan in 24 districts. In the budget, 240 crores have been allotted for 12 districts for the construction of the bhawans.”
The Samiti appreciates the government’s decision to arrange community singing of our state anthem, O Mur Apunar Desh. It also welcomes the establishment of an Assamese language department at Assam University, Silchar, named after Lakshminath Bezbaruah. Additionally, the Samiti has urged Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to consider certain requests, including the introduction of a train service from Assam to Sambalpur, Odisha, where Bezbaruah worked, and the construction of a guest house near his residence in Sambalpur.
