Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the newly constructed park by the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) at Adabari in Guwahati on December 24. 

Eight Bighas is the approximate area of the Adabari Park and it is built at the site of the Assam State Housing Board. This complex is constructed for recreational purposes and for people to spend quality with their family and friends. 

The commercially busy locality of Maligaon was in need of a place like this where people could escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a brief period of time.

The park boasts impressive features like a manicured garden area, an open-air theatre along with a green room that can accommodate 250 people, a meditation hall, and 3 kiosks. It can have a mural artwork dais, an exquisite foundation, an area specifically dedicated for children, a separate block for the toilet, and a ticket counter.

An existing water body has been retained to hold the run-off water of the park considering the topography of the location.

Rs 30 will be the entry fees for adults while children below 12 years will be charged Rs 15.

Earlier, on October 12, the newly renovated Mahababu Brahmaputra River Heritage Center or the old DC Bungalow at PanBazar was opened to the public from October 12. 11 am to 5 pm will be the visiting hours till October 17.

However, from October 19, the timings were changed and presently it remains open from Tuesday to Sunday every week from 10 am to 10 pm. But visitors will not be allowed to enter the premises after 8 pm. The MBRHC will remain closed every Monday for maintenance purposes.

Rs 100 is the fixed entry price per person. However, children below the age of 12 years, old people above the age of 75 years, and persons with disabilities were barred from paying this entry fee.
