GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has launched a Special Drive to simplify the processing of Building Permissions, Occupancy Certificates, and Regularisation Applications.

Running from 1st February to 31st March 2025, this initiative aims to provide a hassle-free experience for citizens. People can visit the GMC office at Uzan Bazar to avail the benefits of the drive.

The special drive offers several advantages, including faster processing times, reducing delays in approvals. The simplified procedures will make it easier for citizens to get necessary approvals, promoting better urban planning and ensuring that projects comply with regulations for sustainable growth.

By making the approval process more efficient, this initiative is also expected to boost investor confidence, helping to attract more investment and encourage economic development in the city.

Meanwhile, the deteriorating water pipeline network of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is causing frequent road damage and waterlogging, particularly in areas like Panbazar PHED, MG Road, and the Guwahati High Court. Residents have expressed frustration, pointing out that road repairs provide only temporary relief.

GMC officials have acknowledged the issue, revealing that 15 major locations suffer from leaking pipelines located beneath the middle of roads, making repairs difficult. To address this, the GMC plans to relocate the pipelines to the sides of the roads, preventing future damage to the carriageways.
