GUWAHATI: In order to ensure undivided attention of the ministers and maintain office decorum, the government has barred the ministers, senior-most secretaries, and other top officers from taking their mobile phones to any cabinet meeting from now on.

The Political Department (Cabinet Cell) has sent letters to the personal secretaries of ministers and all senior-most secretaries to this effect.

The letter reads, '… as discussed in the last cabinet meeting held on December 7, 2024, mobile phones are not allowed inside the cabinet room during the cabinet meeting. Accordingly, all Hon'ble ministers, senior most secretaries, and other officials are kindly requested to keep their mobile phones outside of the cabinet room before entering the cabinet meeting. This is felt as a prerequisite to ensure focused and undivided attention of all the members present in the cabinet meeting. This is also important to maintain the decorum of this highest body of the state government'.
