GUWAHATI: State Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Pijush Hazarika on Tuesday attended two separate events organized to celebrate International Day for the Persons with Disabilities in Guwahati.

In the first programme organized by Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Guwahati under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment minister Hazarika attended as the Chief Guest and wished everyone present on the occasion of International Day for Persons with Disabilities. The minister pointed out the significant steps taken by the central government for inclusive development of the divyangjan.

The Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of Assam also organized day-long events to celebrate the day in Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra on Tuesday. Minister Pijush Hazarika joined the celebration and attended the open meeting as the chief guest. He formally distributed equipment to specially abled persons in the events besides felicitating many differently abled persons who have been successful in various fields bringing glories to the state.

Keeping his speech on the occasion, the minister said that the society cannot be developed fully keeping the differently abled persons behind us. We all must show our compassion towards the divyang brothers and sisters, he said. The minister also mentioned about different successful persons who despite being differently abled, brings glories to mankind. The social justice minister mentioned the state government's policies for the divyang persons in his speech including Orunudoi scheme where the divyang people always get priorities, stated a press release.
