GUWAHATI: The Assam Government on Friday ordered a major reshuffle in the Assam Police, transferring and posting more than 18 officers holding the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) and other senior positions across the State.
The Home Department notified the transfers on Friday as part of a series of administrative changes in the police department.
According to the notification, Sarmistha Barua, APS, Assistant Inspector General of Police (Welfare), Assam, has been transferred and posted as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Darrang. She will take charge in place of Dr Robin Kumar, IPS, who has been allowed to officiate as Deputy Inspector General of Police (MPC), Assam.
Madhurima Das, APS, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AP), Dergaon, attached to the Police Commissionerate, Guwahati, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin), Police Commissionerate, Guwahati. She will replace Nirupam Hazarika, APS, who has been transferred.
Prakash Sonowal, APS, SSP, Morigaon, has been transferred and posted as SSP, Dhemaji. He will replace Sudhakar Singh, IPS, who has been allowed to officiate as Deputy Inspector General of Police (NER), Tinsukia.
In another significant change, Saurav Jyoti Saikia, APS, SSP (Cyber Crime-II), CID, Assam, has been transferred and posted as SSP, CID (Training), Assam. He will replace Shantanu Sharma Pathak, APS, who has been transferred.
Jyoti Ranjan Nath, APS, Commandant, 20th APBn, Panbari, Dhubri, has been transferred and posted as Commandant, 10th APBn, Kahilipara, Guwahati, replacing Sizal Agarwal, IPS.
Ashif Ahmed, APS, SSP (State Crime Records Bureau), CID, Assam, has been transferred and posted as SSP, Biswanath. He will replace Ajagwran Basumatary, APS, who has been transferred.
