GUWAHATI: The Assam government has allowed eligible State Government employees who could not avail themselves of the Special Casual Leave under the Matri Pitri Vandana Scheme earlier due to the Budget Session, 2026, to avail the leave on August 29 and August 31, 2026.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department, the decision was taken in pursuance of a petition submitted by the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) on July 9, 2026.
The Special Casual Leave can be availed in conjunction with August 30 (Sunday) and September 1 (Government holiday), enabling eligible employees to avail the leave over the extended period.
The government had earlier notified the dates for availing the Special Casual Leave under the Matri Pitri Vandana Scheme through notification dated November 17, 2025. However, employees who could not avail the leave on those dates owing to the Budget Session have now been given another opportunity.
Eligible State Government employees have been directed to apply for the leave through the Matri Pitri Vandana portal, following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) available on the website.
