Assam: Guwahati Police Arrested 9 Vehicle Lifters in City

Guwahati: Guwahati police have busted two gangs of vehicle lifters, arresting a total of 9 individuals involved in stealing vehicles from the city.

A team from the Crime Branch arrested 5, identified as Junmoni Deka, alias Boltu, of Baksa; Raju Das of Nalbari; Raju Deka of Kamarpara; Montu Barman of Nalbari; and Jayanta Haloi of Noonmati. The accused were actively involved in stealing vehicles from the city.

In another operation, a team from the West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) from Gorchuk Police Station busted a gang of vehicle lifters who were active in stealing two-wheelers from the city. The police arrested 2 thieves, Ankur Rabha (21) of Tangla and Gwmsar Basumatary (29) of Simla, along with 2 receivers, Ishan Mawnai (20) and Sanjay Singh (32), both from Umsning, Meghalaya. Further investigation is underway. Legal action has been initiated against the accused.
