Sonapur: In response to the unfortunate incident that occurred on June 7 at the GM Coke factory located in 14th Mile, Sonapur, where a worker named Deworam Ronghang from Karbi Anglong lost his life, a massive protest was organized on Tuesday by 37 organizations demanding justice.
According to reports, Deworam Ronghang allegedly died prematurely after being assaulted by some officials of the factory. Seeking justice for his death, the protesting organizations marched to the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dimoria sub-division and submitted a memorandum demanding action.
The protesters raised several key demands, including proper compensation for Deworam Ronghang’s family, justice for the injured, strict punishment for the main culprits behind the incident, and immediate eviction of the GM Coke factory.
