Guwahati: A body was discovered at House No. 6 on Hengrabari’s Dr. Zakir Hussain Road in Guwahati. The property, where the incident occurred, belonged to Dr. Jugananda Saikia and his wife, the parents of the deceased, both of whom passed away seven and three years ago, respectively.

The deceased, identified as Raj Moon Saikia, approximately 45 years old, had been residing in the house. Saikia, who reportedly suffered from mental health issues, had previously spent two years in a rehabilitation centre and was recently hospitalized in Guwahati. He was discharged after receiving treatment, but concerns about his health persisted.

Local residents have alleged foul play, pointing fingers at Saikia’s maternal uncle and aunt. According to the allegations, the relatives were driven by greed over the property that Saikia’s father had left in his name.

Neighbours further claimed that despite Saikia’s deteriorating health, his relatives neither took him back to the hospital nor allowed others to assist in seeking medical care.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, and further details are awaited.
