Assam Panchayat and Rural Development bring laurels from Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj

GUWAHATI: The State Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) department has bagged a number of awards from the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

The awards include

(1) Nanaji Deshmuk Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Puraskar 2020 to Salmara Gram Panchayat, under Raha Anchalik Panchayat under Nagaon Zilla Parishad,

(2) Best Gram Panchayat Development Plan Award (GPDPA) 2020 to Malinipur Gram Panchayat of Sissiborgaon Anchalik Panchayat under Dhemaji Zilla Parishad,

(3) Child Friendly Gram Panchayat Award 2020 to Borpather Gram Panchayat under Barbaruah Anchalik Panchayat under Dibrugarh Zilla Parishad,

The Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar (NDRGGSP) was for Gram Panchayats only for their outstanding contribution to the socio-economic development by involving Gram Sabhas,

The Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) Award was introduced during 2018 with a view to encourage the GPs which have developed their GPDPs according to the State/UT specific guidelines prepared in line with the models guidelines issued by MoPR.

The Child-friendly Gram Panchayat Award (CFGPA) is given keeping in view that the basic component of social development creating a conducive atmosphere for the healthy growth and development of children. This award was announced on 1st March, 2019 for best performing Gram Panchayats (GPs)/Village Councils (VCs) (one in each State/UT) for adopting child-friendly practices.

Meanwhile, State P&RD Minister Naba Kumar Doley wished all those who received the awards and appealed to them to work harder for the rural people of the State, a press release said.
