GUWAHATI: On the very first day of 2025, the Assam government launched a portal to enable mutual transfer of government employees and signed MoUs for employees' insurance coverage.

Launching the mutual transfer portal for grade III and IV employees today, the Chief Minister said, "The employees don't have to go to the offices for their transfer. They need to apply to the portal to get their transfer order online automatically. This portal will remain open from January 1 to February 28 every year. After receiving the applications online, the authorities concerned will examine them and issue the transfer order online."

The state government signed two MoUs, one with the SBI and the other with the Union Bank of India, for insurance coverage of government employees. This insurance will be of zero premium. After natural death, this insurance cover will let the next of kin of the deceased employee get Rs 5-10 lakh, apart from the dues they are to get from the government. If an employee dies in an accident, his next of kin will get Rs 1 crore. If an employee becomes permanently disabled in an accident, he will get Rs 80 lakh from this insurance cover."
