56 Mandals suspended over allegations
STAFF REPORTER
GUWAHATI: Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Keshab Mahanta on Monday warned Mandals of Revenue Circle offices to give priority to public service, as any complaints will invite appropriate action against them. So far, 56 Mandals have been suspended over various allegations against them.
Addressing a press conference at Dispur on Monday, Minister Mahanta said, "Recently I took over charge of the Revenue & Disaster Management department. I will talk with the Mandals in the state. Already, some reforms have been made in Circle offices, and a few more are in the pipeline. The priority of Mandals should be to provide public service. If any applications are left pending, action will be taken. All applications should be disposed of in a time-bound manner. So far, 56 Mandals have been suspended for various charges against them."
Regarding Mission Basundhara 3.0, the minister said, "The main objective of Mission Basundhara is to give land rights to the indigenous people of the state. Under Mission Basundhara 3.0, the Assam government is planning to give land settlement to educational institutions, religious institutions like Naamghars, Xatras, socio-cultural organizations, etc. So far, 10,475 applications under Mission Basundhara 3.0 have been received. I invite those organisations who haven't already applied to do so by December 31, 2024. If any organizations have not done their registration, they don't have to submit registration certificates during the application process. They can submit such certificates at the time of getting the land settlement offer."
He further said, "If any organizations are registered but have not renewed their registrations, they can renew them without any late fine."
To apply under Mission Basundhara 3.0, organizations have to submit renewal certificates of their registration. Now they don't have to pay any late fine for delay in renewal.
The minister also clarified that people can now pay their land revenue (khazana) both in online mode and directly to the mouzadars or tehsildars. The state government had recently introduced the e-khazana system, but many could not avail themselves of this mode as difficulties were faced by them during the registration process on the online portal. So, the government has decided to continue both systems for payment of khazana.
