Guwahati: Students across Assam will not receive their report cards for the academic year 2024-25, as Samagra Shiksha Assam (SSA) has not distributed them to schools.

SSA Executive Director Sanjoy Dutta issued an official letter addressing the issue of progress report cards for students from Balvatika to Class VIII. The letter was sent to the Additional District Commissioner (ADC) for Education, the District Mission Coordinator (DMC), the Inspector of Schools, and the District Elementary Education Officers (DEEO) to maintain records of students’ academic progress.

The letter said, “For the current academic year 2024-25, the progress report card was not provided to the schools due to a shortage of funds. However, schools will maintain records of the progress of the students in separate record books to track the progress of each student. In case of students, particularly of Class V & VIII, who are seeking transfer to another school, schools may provide report cards only to those students for the academic year 2024-25 from the stock of report cards provided to the schools for the new academic session, i.e., 2025-26. However, schools may also arrange report cards for other students from the available school grants.”

The progress report card is essential for proper record-keeping of the academic progress as well as the uniqueness of each learner. The holistic progress card forms an important link between Guardian and school, teacher, as emphasized in the National Education Policy 2020.

There are three types of report cards. They are Holistic Progress Card (HPC) for Balvatika, Holistic Progress Report Card for class I and II, and Comprehensive Progress Report Card for class III-VIII.
