Assam: State Government Advances Incremental Benefit for SRD Teachers

Guwahati: In a significant decision aimed at benefiting teachers appointed under the Special Recruitment Drive (SRD), the Government of Assam has approved the advancement of the 1st Annual Incremental Benefit. As per the latest notification issued by the Department of School Education, the benefit will now be effective from July 2025 instead of July 2026.

The state cabinet on June 22 approved the 1st Annual Incremental benefit to the newly-appointed teachers in LP, UP and Secondary Schools under the Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) in July 2025.

As per the notification, the order applies to Lower Primary (LP), Upper Primary (UP), and Secondary School teachers who were recruited under the SRD, following the provisions of the ROP (Revision of Pay) Rules, 2017. As many as 26,000 teachers will be benefited from this annual increment.
