Animals like orangutans have been provided with electrical fans and water fountains to help them cope with the rising temperatures. According to Dr. Pranab Das, Forest Veterinary Officer of the Assam State Zoo, the team is ensuring strict hygiene and health protocols for all animals. Regular deworming, medical examinations, and vaccinations are being conducted to prevent diseases. Electrolyte ERS solutions are being provided to balance sodium and calcium levels, while all animals have access to clean drinking water and a nutritious diet. Dr. Das also revealed that the zoo has plans for major modernization, with construction expected to begin within the next one to two years. Emphasizing the importance of a healthy environment, he advised other similar facilities to plant adequate trees and ensure the availability of fresh water to support the well-being of animals and keep diseases at bay.
